Crazed blade-wielding thug frightens Dublin Christmas shoppers in terrifying incident

A crazed blade-wielding thug frightened excited Christmas shoppers in Dublin yesterday morning during a terrifying robbery at a popular store.

The armed man stormed the SuperValu store in Fortunestown, Tallaght stealing a sum of money as early morning customers watched on in fear.

He entered the shop threatening staff and punters with the blade before fleeing the scene with the cash.

The scary thief is still at large and Gardai have launched a manhunt to track down the thug.

A Garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Officers attended the scene of a robbery in a store in Tallaght on Friday, 11 December.

"One male entered the premises armed with a blade and fled the scene with a sum of cash."

He added: "No injuries or damage to the premises were reported.

"No arrests have been made and investigations remain ongoing."

Supervalu will be operating a longer opening hours timetable over the festive season but the exact times will depend on the individual store.

Shoppers are being asked to check with their local store for closing times.

A spokesman said: "SuperValu will operate on extended opening hours in the run up to Christmas.

"As SuperValu stores are independently owned and operated customers should check with their local store for exact times."
