Craving a Nostalgic Christmas? The Six Bells’ Holiday Collection Has All the Ingredients for a 90s Crafty Christmas

A bed nook bedroom at the six bells inn styled with red and green folk aesthetic and dressed for christmas with stockings, patchwork accessories, a christmas tree and wrapped presents.

Ever since I've had my own home, I've been set on trying to recreate the nostalgia of my childhood Christmases – think paper garlands, felt, needlepoint, clove-studded oranges, and the thrill of unwrapping a handmade ornament you’d glued together at school weeks before.

The 90s were a time when Christmas decorating was less about perfection and more about homespun magic, and if you, too, are craving a crafty Christmas this year, I might have just hit the jackpot in The Six Bells' holiday collection.

Purveyors of country style, their holiday shop feels like a love letter to Christmases past, filled with hand-stitched stockings, folk-inspired ornaments, and some of the best tree skirts around (in this Style Editor's opinion). Here's everything I recommend adding to your basket.

What strikes me first about The Six Bells’ holiday drop is how beautifully it captures the joy of the festive season. The palette is warm and comforting, with deep cranberry reds, forest greens, and soft yellows, and the textures are satisfyingly tactile.

There’s a sense of vintage Christmas charm to the pieces, as if you've just discovered a long-forgotten box in your attic, rather than picked them up brand-new. It’s the perfect edit for those who want to bring back the joy of making and creating at Christmas – but aren't particularly skilled themselves (ahem, me).

This year’s collection takes its cues from folk traditions, and you can feel that influence in every detail. Motifs borrowed from Alpine embroidery appear across ornaments (the Poinsettia Needlepoint Ornament is a fave), blue and white textiles like the Blue Floral Embroidered Runner, and even tableware pieces.

'The collection is part Bavarian chalet, part 1990s Martha Stewart,' explains Audrey Gelman, founder of The Six Bells and The Six Bells Countryside Inn. 'I wanted it to feel like a return to old-world craft and the cozy, handmade holiday aesthetic we grew up with.'

And it couldn’t feel more of-the-moment. TikTok’s current obsession with a nostalgic 90s Christmas has turned handmade, homespun decor into a full-blown Christmas decor trend.

Whether you're looking to totally overhaul your said beige Christmas or are simply looking for some extra special pieces to add to your collection, this collection has something for every festive decorator. In fact, there's even a hand-felted Ina Garten Ornament for those who love to host.

Of course, the fun doesn't end with tinsel (although the garlands for your Christmas mantel are pretty special). I’d be remiss not to call out one of my favourite details from the collection: the Christmas tree skirts. These aren’t your standard tree collars; think of them as a full Christmas “outfit” for your tree.

Here’s my edit of nine favorite finds that perfectly capture that nostalgic, craft-forward spirit – pieces to cherish, year after year.

Feeling inspired to deck the halls? If it were up to me, I'd give the go-ahead to start decorating for Christmas already, but you might want to hold off until after Thanksgiving to put the tree up. What I would suggest, though, is adding everything you've got your eye on to your cart now before they sell out, as ornaments this pretty won't hang around for long.
