School bus crash outside Armadale Academy closes A89 road in West Lothian

A crash involving a school bus in West Lothian has led to emergency services being called out and a road being shut.

The collision took place near Armadale Academy shortly after 8am, however the bus was for another school.

The fire service said a school bus and a car were involved. Two people were hurt and were able to remove themselves from the vehicles before firefighters arrived.

Several fire engines were at the scene amid fears of a blaze on the bus but they later stood down.

The bus was heading out to pick up children for St Kentigern's Academy and did not have any passengers on board at the time.

Drivers are being told to avoid the area.

Police Scotland said: "A89 closed at Armadale Police Station and along full stretch from Blackridge. This is due to a road traffic collision.

"Thank you for your patience."
