Crash on M8 near Livingston caused eastbound road closure ahead of evening rush hour

Police this afternoon closed a slip road on the M8 at Livingston as emergency services dealt with an accident there.

Traffic Scotland reported at 4.26pm that the eastbound entry slip at junction three had been closed due to a crash.

They added that it is "likely to be closed for some time" with police on the scene.

Traffic was said to be coping, but queues are likely to build with the evening rush hour on the way.

This is the third consecutive day that an accident has caused problems on Scotland's busiest motorway ahead of the busy 5pm commute.

It was reported shortly before 5pm that the entry slip, had been reopened to traffic.

As of 5pm Traffic Scotland said that the westbound route was heavy with routine evening traffic.
