Crash on M8 near Glasgow Airport: Emergency services respond as westbound motorway shut down

A westbound section of the M8 was shut down earlier this evening after a crash on the motorway.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Junction 30, near Glasgow Airport, shortly after 5pm. Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service all responded to the incident.

Police subsequently shut down both lanes of the westbound motorway, sparking significant traffic delays.

A Police Scotland spokesperson has since advised Glasgow Live there's thankfully been no injuries.

They advised: "Around 5pm on Wednesday, 7 July, officers were called to attend a two vehicle crash on the M8, at junction 30, near to the Erskine Bridge.

"There have been no reported injuries and the road has fully reopened.

"Officers remain the area as enquiries continue."

Although both lanes have now been reopened, traffic remains backed up as a result.
