Crash on M8 near Glasgow Airport as emergency services race to scene

Police and ambulance crews have raced to a single-vehicle crash on the M8 near Glasgow Airport.

Mercy crews attended the smash, understood to be a van, at around 7.07am this morning.

The lane at J28 going eastbound was closed until 8.14am.

The closure sparked traffic chaos with motorists facing delays of up to 40 minutes.

It is unknown if anyone has been injured.

Traffic Scotland tweeted: "Lane 2 is blocked E/B at J28 due to an RTC Police and TRISS en route Traffic is queuing on approach."

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Appears to be a one-vehicle crash on the M8 at J28 Eastbound involving a van.

"Vehicle recovery is being arranged and an ambulance has been called."

Scottish Ambulance teams have been contacted for comment.
