Crash on M4 causes six miles of traffic as heavy rain affects the area

There has been heavy traffic on the M4 this morning after an accident between two cars eastbound around junction 35 for Pencoed and junction 32 for Miskin.

Whilst the lanes have now reopened, there were still tailbacks of up to six miles on this part of the motorway this morning.

Lane one of four was closed until around 07.50am this morning before the vehicles were recovered and put on the hard shoulder.

WalesOnline reports that as a result of all of this, travel time was around 30 minutes.

Further along on the eastbound side one lane was also closed because of a broken down box van just before junction 29.

On this section of the motorway, all lanes have now reopened as well.

As a result of the heavy congestion on the M4, this led to delays for motorists trying to get out of Magor this morning.

At one point, traffic was not moving out of Magor towards the M4 at all.

The average time to usually get out of the village onto the M4 is three minutes but one commuter said they waited 35 minutes to get onto the motorway.

As of 9am this morning, congestion in the area is now slowly easing with around 15 minutes of delays on this section of the motorway.
