Police are dealing with an ongoing incident heading into Irvine this afternoon.
A collision between at least two cars has caused a lane to be closed on the A71 heading from the Dreghorn Crematorium into Irvine.
A number of emergency service vehicles are on the scene as they begin to establish what happened.
An eyewitness at the scene said: "There was two cars involved in an accident, it doesn't look great.
"Police and ambulance crews are at the scene and dealing with it now.
"Traffic is tailing back, I would avoid heading to Irvine if possible."
