Crash on Bristol Ring Road sees three rushed to hospital

Three people were taken to hospital after a serious crash on the edge of Bristol.

The three-car collision happened at around 5am on July 4 on Colliters Way, the part of the South Bristol Link Road between the A370 at Long Ashton and the A38 Airport Road.

Firefighters, ambulance crews and police rushed to the scene of the crash, which involved three cars.

It is understood the cars contained a total of three people - all of which were taken to hospital by paramedics.

One of those was medically trapped and had to be freed by firefighters from Bedminster and Temple Fire Stations, who attended the scene.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police confirmed that three cars were involved.

"We were called at 4.47am to a road traffic collision, involving three cars, in Colliters Way in Long Ashton," she said.

"Three people were taken to hospital for checks but none were believed to be suffering life-threatening injuries.

"The road closed due to obstruction and reopened at 6..30am."

Bristol Live has approached South Western Ambulance Service for more information about the condition of the people involved.
