Crash near Clevedon Pier - cyclist rushed to hospital with 'serious' injuries

A cyclist has been rushed to hospital with 'serious' injures after he collided with a vehicle.

Officers were called to Marine Parade, near Clevedon Pier, just after 3pm today (Tuesday, September 15).

A cordon was put in place between Marine Parade to The Beach, as police searched the area for evidence.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary has now launched an investigation into the smash.

A force spokesperson said: "We were called just after 3pm by the ambulance (service) to Marine Parade in Clevedon following a cyclist colliding with a vehicle.

"The cyclist was taken to hospital with serious injures.

"Enquires are continuing."

The route reopened at around 7.37pm.

A witness, who wished not to be named, said: "Apparently a cyclist and car in collision, cyclist taken to hospital.

"Plenty of police still on scene."
