Crash involving 'five or more' vehicles on M56 in Wythenshawe

More than five vehicles have been involved in a crash on the M56.

The motorway has been shut eastbound between junctions four and three, according to North West Motorway Police.

The force tweeted about the crash just after 7.45pm on Saturday (February 15).

Police are currently on the way to the scene, the tweet said.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area.

The post said: "Multiple calls reporting five vehicle-plus road traffic collision on the M56 between junction four to junction three.

"GMP police patrols are en route and highways lanes blocked.

"Please avoid the area if you are about to set off."

At 8pm, the force tweeted that they were 'trying to move the vehicles to the hard shoulder'.

No one was injured in the crash.

Motorway police hope to reopen the carriageway soon, police confirmed.
