Motorists were treated to severe delays in Newcastle city centre on Tuesday morning following a road traffic incident involving eight vehicles at the Cowgate roundabout.
The collision happened around 8am on the on the A191 Springfield Road Cowgate roundabout near to the A167 Ponteland Road slip road. Emergency services attended the incident but fortunately no one is believed to have been injured.
The Southbound lane was closed but it has now re-opened.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At around 7.50am today (Tuesday) police received a report of a collision involving eight vehicles on the A191 Springfield Road Cowgate roundabout near to the A167 Ponteland Road slip road. Emergency services are at the scene where the road is partially blocked while vehicles are uplifted. Thankfully nobody is believed to have been injured.”
