Crash involving 2 cars closed one lane of M1 near Nottingham

One lane of the M1 southbound near Nottingham was closed after a two-car collision on the carriageway.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the crash near junction 26 at around 9.11am on April 27, closing off one lane for about half an hour.

Nobody was badly hurt in the crash and traffic was not majorly affected by the lane closure, with the further two lanes remaining open.

A fire service spokesperson said: "Crews attended a two vehicle collision on the M1 this morning at 9.11am.

"One lane was closed at junction 26 where crews from Ashfield and Stockhill attended the incident. A stop call was issued at 9:42am."

Highways England reported the crash on its Twitter feeds at around 9.30am, saying the fire service were on scene.

Confirming the lane closure had been lifted, a spokesperson said: "The lane closure has been removed and fire service have left scene.

"Traffic officers are on scene dealing with the remainder of the incident. No delays."
