Crash in Rutherglen after police car chase through south side of Glasgow

A car crashed in the early hours of this morning after a police chase in the south side of Glasgow

Cops were called to Prospecthill Road after reports of a car being driven 'erratically' shortly after 5am.

Police pursued the Audi A8 before it crashed on Rutherglen's Stonelaw Road.

The 51-year-old driver and a 26-year-old passenger were rushed to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital following the smash as police launch an investigation.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.10am on Sunday, November 15, officers were called to the Prospecthill Road area of Cathcart following a report of an Audi A8 being driven erratically.

"Following a brief pursuit, the Audi crashed on Stonelaw Road, Rutherglen.

"The 51-year-old male driver and 26-year-old male passenger were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment and enquiries remain ongoing."
