The 24-year-old driver of a Subaru station wagon who was attempting to flee from police near Carwoola, outside Queanbeyan, on Wednesday was arrested after his vehicle collided with another car.

The man suffered a leg injury when his Subaru collided with a Mitsubishi Magna sedan on Wanna Wanna Rd around 4.40pm.

Earlier, NSW police from Monaro Police District had directed the man to stop his car while driving on Captains Flat Rd.

The vehicle failed to stop and a short police pursuit ensued.

The collision closed Wanna Wanna Rd as police established a crime scene. Paramedics and members of the Carwoola RFS attended.

NSW police said the injured man was conveyed to Canberra Hospital where he will undergo mandatory testing.

The driver of the second car involved in the crash was uninjured.
