Crash closes major road in south Manchester during rush hour

A crash closed a section of one of the major roads in south Manchester during this evening's rush hour.

It happened on Barlow Moor Road, in Chorlton, at around 4:30pm.

Two vehicles were involved in a collision near Derwent Avenue, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

It is not known at this stage if anyone has been injured or how seriously.

"Police were called just before 4:30pm to reports of a collision involving two vehicles on Barlow Moor Road, in Chorlton - emergency services are currently at the scene," a GMP spokeswoman said.

The road was closed northbound for over an hour with drivers being diverted down Princess Road, Nell Lane and Mauldeath Road.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) said shortly before 6pm that the vehicles had both been recovered and the road had re-opened.
