Four car crash forces temporary closure of M8 at Glasgow Airport

Emergency services are in attendance at the scene of a four car crash on the M8 motorway.

The crash took place on the M8 Eastbound at Junction 28 (Glasgow Airport Interchange) around 11:25am this morning.

The motorway was forced to close in one direction as police and ambulance crews attended the scene, however Traffic Scotland have since confirmed that the motorway has reopened to traffic.

Traffic Scotland have advised drivers that a 40 mph speed restriction remains in place.

They are also warning drivers that traffic is slow westbound back to Erskine Bridge while eastbound traffic is currently queuing back to Junction 26 (Hillington Interchange). Traffic is also queuing back to Linwood northbound on the A737.

Emergency services remain on the scene.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "Police were called around 11.20am on Friday, 28 May, 2021 following the report of a four vehicle road crash on the M8 Eastbound at junction 28.

"Emergency services are in attendance and two lanes are currently closed."
