The people behind Cranside Kitchen are looking to expand ahead of the winter.
Plans have been submitted to take over a car park beside the Rotunda in Finnieston to create a 'wining and dining garden' that customers can visit without worrying about the weather.
The extension will be based in a refurbished shipping container and will still allow diners to select menus from a number of restaurants currently within the Rotunda building.
The existing beer garden is operating from a 'tented structure' which has temporary consent which is described as being unsuitable for cold or wet weather.
Owners say they need to install a more robust structure on the same side of building to see them through the bad weather.
Planning documents submitted with application explain: "As a homage to the historic and industrial shipping heritage of the area, this will be formed by utilising a refurbished metal shipping container.
"In selecting a container for this purpose, the designer has sought to reflect the bold industrial brickwork construction of the Victorian Rotunda and to carry that industrial theme through into the beer garden by installing a latter day item of industrial design, creating a marriage between the areas industrial shipping past and a modern day shipping container."
Furniture inside the new structure will be a 'garden' theme but will respect the need for social distancing with small trees and shrubs helping to mark out spaces and walkways.
Pergola structures and outdoor heaters will also be brought in during the colder days.
If given the go-ahead, the new venue will be able to hold 200 customers and will operate between 10am and 10pm every day.
The plans are due to go before Glasgow City Council.
