Crane collapse not expected to delay SoFi Stadium opening

A large crane collapsed at the construction site of SoFi Stadium last week, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. It occurred when a moving crane struck the stationary one, causing it to come crashing to the ground.

The stadium is set to open in July for a Taylor Swift concert and then for the NFL preseason in August, and that timeline apparently won’t be affected by this recent accident. According to Forbes, citing SoFi Stadium officials, the crane collapse won’t delay the stadiums’ opening.

The crane was stationed outside of the stadium, so it didn’t cause any damage to the $5 billion structure itself. That’s great news for everyone involved, especially after the stadium’s opening was already delayed a year in 2017 due to rainfall; it was originally slated to open for the 2019 season.

The stadium is more than 85% complete with roof panels being installed, seats being put in place and the double-sided Oculus scoreboard being assembled.
