'Cramond Island of Punk' - Free music festival returning to island in the Forth this summer

Cramond Island is usually a tranquil outcrop in the Forth, but expect it to be a bit noisier for one day this August.

A pop-up DIY punk festival, called Cramond Island of Punk, is returning  on August 17.

This free event has been running for several years and  features several bands from around the UK and further afield.

Don't expect a site like T in the Park, festival-goers are asked to help the crew bring kit across the causeway in the morning before the tide isolates the island from the mainland.

Organisers stress those at the event must not leave Cramond Island looking like a tip, those taking part are expected to clean everything up and bring bin bags with them.

Confirmed on the lineup this year are Atterkop, Fat Randall, Geoffrey Oicott and Happy Spastics among others.

Organisers say: "Priority as always is look after the island and look after yourselves. Make sure to clean up everything you take onto the island with you.

"Don’t take glass bottles, try and put them in a plastic bottles before you come. Keep an eye on everyone to make sure they’re ok and be wary of getting too wasted.
