Craigneuk pizza shop helps make sure that vulnerable people get a fair slice of free food

A pizza shop is serving up a huge slice of goodwill to help vulnerable members of society.

Go4Pizzas in Craigneuk has launched a new delivery service aimed at making sure the people who need help the most are being looked after.

They are taking time two evenings a week and are delivering soup and pasta for no charge.

Posting on Facebook last week, the shop said: “In light of the recent information given by the government, we at Go4pizzas intend to do our bit for our local community in the coming weeks as a thank you for your continued support.”

Alan Hadden, owner at Go4Pizzas, told the Wishaw Press that it has been a very successful project so far.

He said: “There are lots of elderly people in the area who need help and looking after at times like this.

“We have loads of people who got in contact with us and we are delivering soup and pasta every Monday and Thursday evening.

“They can get a few portions out of it and hopefully that will keep them going for a couple days until we can come round with more.”

The restaurant is now doing contactless delivery only, as a way of making sure everyone is safe.

“We have all the customers’ details so we can call them when we are near and let them know we are dropping the food off at their door.

“We intend on doing this as long as the government lets us. I think it is important to look after the elderly in the community.”

For those who think they would benefit from this service, or know a family member that would, you can get in touch on the Go4Pizzas Facebook page or call them on 01698 355 544.
