Craigneuk kids test themselves at one of Scotland's top mountain bike tracks

A talented group of Craigneuk kids tested themselves on one of the country’s top mountain biking tracks.

Busloads of teenage bikers had a great time on the track at The Trossachs run by professional cycling team Endura who boasts world class Scottish riders such as Danny MacAskill and Kriss Kyle.

The teenagers, who train at the Wishawhill Wood pump track, were buzzing to get on their bikes and Pamela Barclay, from Endura, was delighted to welcome the youngsters to the top class track.

She said: “Endura are really stoked to be working with Socialtrack from Wishawhill through our charity arm, the Endura Lifecycle Trust mtb trails.

“We are passionate believers in unlocking potential through the power of mountain biking and in the therapeutic effects of the great outdoors.

“The great work the guys out there are doing really engaging with the local community and bringing kids from an area of social deprivation is incredible.

“We understand the thrill of hurtling down trails, the adrenaline kick from nailing a drop or a jump and the simple joy of getting outdoors.

“Cycling not only provides exhilaration but is a fantastic catalyst for positive change and developing transferable life skills.

“Some of the kids already have some incredible bike handling and stunt skills and it is fantastic to see them just mucking about on bikes having fun. That’s how Danny MacAskill started after all.”

Dan Scott, from Socialtrack, was pleased for the 30 talented teens and is hopeful of more events like this to continue their development.

He added: “Some of them that was there first time mountain biking so was something totally new to them.

“We are hoping that we can get funding to have mountain bike rides as a regular thing for the Wishawhill Wood kids.

“We also hope that it’ll get these young people out riding in the Clyde Valley as we have loads of mountain biking just on our doorstep and of course the Clyde Walkway.

“Endura supplied bikes helmets and a trail leader for the day so they were fantastic is supporting the young folk.”
