Craigavon security alert leads to homes being evacuated

Homes have been evacuated in the early hours of this morning as police deal with a security alert .

Residents in the Tulleygally Road area of Craigavon were asked to leave their homes in the early hours of Saturday, July 27.

The road has also been closed and motorists are asked to avoid the area.

A PSNI spokesman said: "Police in Craigavon are currently in attendance at a security alert in the Tulleygally Road area of the town. A number of homes are being evacuated and the Tullygally Road has been closed. Diversions are in place. Please avoid the area."

At 10am on Saturday, a PSNI spokesman added: "Police and ATO are examining a suspicious object in the area of the Tullygally Road area of Craigavon this morning.

"The Tullygally Road remains closed and members of the public are asked to continue to avoid the area."
