Craig Whyte is a vulture back for another swoop and companies should stay clear

One of the darkest episodes in the history of Rangers was when shady businessman Craig Whyte got his claws into the club.

He ran it into the ground and it took years for the Ibrox side to recover.

Dodgy Whyte got his comeuppance when the Insolvency Service disqualified him as a director for 15 years.

The banning order prevented him from acting as a director of a company, or taking part in the promotion, formation or management of a company.

He is also unable to act as an insolvency practitioner or be a receiver of a company’s property.

So it is with alarm that we report accusations that Whyte is involved in a firm which tries to help struggling firms dodge their debts.

A Record investigation has uncovered compelling evidence he has been answering phones and explaining the company’s services.

Fortress Restructuring is a firm that offers to take customers through the murky maze of asset stripping and how to fold failing firms.

The man who answered the phone said he was called “Tom”, but a top UK phonetics expert agrees with our investigation that it was actually Whyte.

The Insolvency Service should launch an investigation into the claims and get to the bottom of Whyte’s role.

Whyte is a vulture and firms should beware of any venture with him at its core.

Only way is down

Jackson Carlaw announced he was resigning as Tory leader in Scotland (PA)

It HAS been amusing to witness the head scratching in the Scottish Tory party about its recent struggles.

While the SNP is forecast to win a majority at next year’s Holyrood election, the Conservative Party is trying to hold on to second place.

In a desperate attempt at stopping the bleeding, the Tories dumped Jackson Carlaw last week and are punting MP Douglas Ross as their saviour.

MSP Michelle Ballantyne is backing Ross because she believes the party will be “Boris backing” and “Brexit positive”.

Anyone with a brain cell would realise those traits are weaknesses in Scotland.

Her latest ill-judged comments show how out of touch the Scottish Tories really are.

Made of ruff stuff

Pets provide their owners with joy and Chris Sheffield’s dog Toddy is no exception.

The cairn cross turns 22 soon, which in dog years is 103.

It is time the Queen sent Toddy a congratulatory letter.
