Craig Reynolds impressed Redskins coaches so much he earned a deal after tryout

Most didn’t know the name Craig Reynolds before this offseason.

Reynolds, after all, spent his college days at Division II Kutztown University, initially debuting as a slot receiver before moving to running back.

Now he’s one of five players — out of 44 overall — who turned a tryout into a deal with the Washington Redskins.

Mostly, he did it by impressing offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell, per Redskins.com:

“Make ’em work, 22,” O’Connell instructed to Reynolds as he stood in the backfield before the snap. Then Reynolds took off towards the line of scrimmage.

“There we go, there we go,” O’Connell continued. “That’s a good first step right there. That’s a good first step right there Randy Jordan!”

Redskins fans know the deal though — running back is one of the strongest positions on the roster. Before Reynolds landed his deal, the Redskins drafted Bryce Love, not to mention already rostering Adrian Peterson, Derrius Guice, Chris Thompson, Samaje Perine and Byron Marshall.

But at this point, why count Reynolds out? His prior experience as a receiver and current skill set could help coaches create mismatches — and he’s already grabbed their attention in a big way, clearly.
