Craig Revel-Horwood threatens to quit Strictly if made to 'tone down' comments

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel-Horwood has a mouth and opinions to fill it - and he doesn't care who knows it.

The 54 year-old played down the importance of the dance show to his life, after lamenting the orders he receives year in year out to rein in his opinionated attitude.

Craig dished: "Every year I get told to tone it down and I don't listen. Of course I won't be toning it down this year.

"I'm going to be just like I've been for 16 years. I'm not changing for anyone, if that's the case I'd rather not judge it. It will never work, darling. I've got too much of a big mouth."

Later he added: "It's just a Saturday job, Monday to Friday I choreograph and dance, but Strictly is a very small part of it.

"We're all dispensable, I expect they would replace me with someone else. It's not me who has gone onto 56 countries worldwide, it's the show and the format."

His remarks come after he was told off for a joke about last year's Strictly champ Stacey Dooley , who is now in a relationship with her professional partner Kevin Clifton .

Craig can be heard saying on tape: "Stacey was dragged up from the dance gutter, of course, if you sleep with your dance partner that helps."

He apologised for the judge, and it was rumoured that some professionals were furious about it.

The Mail on Sunday reported that Craig could leave the series after the debacle.

There's also thought to be tension in the financial arena, after fellow judge Shirley Ballas was brought on to the show on a higher salary.

Craig revealed: "I think women should be paid the same as men. That's for sure.

"But what would you say to a woman coming in after you've been in the job 15 years when they've done absolutely nothing to earn it? I don't think that's right.

"For instance, Shirley Ballas, in that way, you'd expect she would start on something lower because she'd never been on TV before."
