Craig Revel Horwood slams 'illiterate' trolls after Shirley Ballas' death threats

Strictly's Craig Revel Horwood lashed out at trolls after his co-star Shirley Ballas was bombarded with death threats.

The Strictly Come Dancing judge, 54, said he and his co-stars have to laugh off vicious trolling when there is an inevitable backlash on Strictly.

Shirley recently was a victim of death threats after she sent Dianne Buswell and her celeb partner Dev Griffin home.

But Craig said he can't resist scrawling through all of social media to read exactly what trolls have to say.

Speaking exclusively to the Mirror Online at the Pride of Britain Awards, he said: "I read all those online stuff [social media] as a cartoon. Have a bit of a laugh and close it down.

"People are self publishing. Most people don't know how to write."

In defence of Shirley, Craig backed his co-star's final decision to send Catherine Tyldesley home from the competition.

It's no surprise he was delighted with the decision as he had chosen to save Katya Jones and Mike Bushell in the dance off.

Craig made a vicious dig at former contestant Ann Widdcombe as he pointed out she wasn't the "best dancer" yet she managed to sail through to week 11.

The Strictly star called the public out for not filing their votes.

He added: "Yeah I was [happy with the result]. The public weren't. I just say vote, you must vote. The public have 50% of the vote, not just four of us.

"We look professionally who is a better person, whether it be technical, entertainment value, anything like that.

"The audience at home have a chance to change the leaderboard entirely. Ann Widdcombe got to week 11 and she wasn't the best dancer. That's got to be considered."

Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday.
