Craig Revel Horwood and boyfriend Jonathan Myring announce engagement

Craig Revel Horwood has shared some happy news by announcing his engagement to his partner of two years, Jonathan Myring.

The Strictly Come Dancing judge, 55, met Myring, 35 in Nottingham while he was on the Strictly tour in 2018.

The pair then began dating and Myring moved into Revel Horwood’s Hampshire home nine months later.

Revel Horwood shared his joy with OK! magazine, telling the publication: “There’s such comfort in knowing you have somebody that loves you and wants to spend the rest of their life with you.

“I feel like I have someone who has my back and I’ve got theirs.”

Myring proposed while the couple were on holiday in Australia, where Revel Horwood was born.

The 35-year-old had been planning a romantic proposal on a day trip but the Strictly star unwittingly scuppered the plans.

“In the end, I drew a salt bath, opened a bottle of champagne and we got in the bath together and I did it in there,” Myring revealed.

Revel Horwood was previously married to Jane Horwood for two years in the 1990s.

Speaking about his sexuality in 2014, he told OK!:” I was bisexual for a long time. I flitted between men and women quite a lot between the ages of 17 and 26.

“My wife Jane left me for another man. Then I fell in love with a bloke. I have been gay ever since.”

Revel Horwood and Myring are yet to decide on a wedding date - but they have picked the venue.

“We do want to have the wedding at home,” Myring said. “We have seven acres of land, so we want a beautiful forest garden wedding.”

Revel Horwood added: “I don’t want a big, splashy, massive wedding. It would be nice to have something intimate for ourselves and very close friends and family.”
