Craig Newmark urges: keep the net free

Craig Newmark, the founder of the path-breaking craigslist.org, is upset at legislation passed last week by the U.S. House of Representatives that will allow telecommunications companies to charge for internet use. Newmark urges Americans to lobby Congress to maintain "the net as it is now: neutral, fair and free". But Mike McCurry, co-chairman of a coalition of telecommunications businesses, counters that argument, claiming that online companies are trying to obtain federal exemption from paying their dues.
