Craig Levein tips teenage St Johnstone shot stopper to follow Zander Clark route to the top

Craig Levein believes Jack Wills can take the Zander Clark path to the top.

The St Johnstone youngster is currently impressing out on-loan at Brechin City.

Wills is just making his way in the game and Brechin director of football Levein has been impressed with him and reckons he can go a long way in the game.

The 18-year-old will long-term look to push double-cup winning and Scotland squad keeper Clark but before that he is set to follow in his footsteps by going out on loan.

Clark had spells at Elgin City and Queen of the South before he nailed down the No. 1 spot at McDiarmid Park.

Levein said: “This is Jack’s first real run of first-team football and we have been really impressed with him.

“He is still young for a goalkeeper and will make mistakes but he is getting better with every game.

“Jack is a very good shot-stopper, has good reflexes and also kicks the ball well.

“He has all the attributes to be a good, modern-day goalkeeper.

“Jack is doing well in the Highland League and I am sure he will want to do well here and then go out on-loan at a higher level again.

“That is the path that Zander Clark took before he became the No. 1 at St Johnstone and there is no reason why Jack can’t go on and do the same.”
