Craig Levein laments Hearts' 'lack of quality' as Tynecastle side fail to break down Livingston

Hearts boss Craig Levein hit out at his side's quality and admits they missed something in the final third during their dull draw with Livingston.

In a match that had both sides struggling to create chances, Livingston were the happier with the result after Aymen Souda was shown a straight red card.

The Livi star lunged in on Christophe Berra in a bizarre challenge but despite 40 minutes being left on the clock at the time, they couldn't find a way through.

With the likes of Steven Naismith and Connor Washington already injured, Japanese loanee Ryo Meshino was forced off with a knock and leaves Hearts a bit short in attack.

The performance left Levein frustrated and he said: "I’m frustrated. I asked them to be really competitive today and I got that. They worked extremely hard and played well as a team.

"But, we took 15 minutes to adjust once Livingston went down to 10 men. Once we did that I felt we controlled the rest of the match. We should have scored and should have won but I’m sure I’ve said that once or twice before.

“It was mainly our decision-making. There were great opportunities to cut the ball back and we’ve decided to shoot or blast the ball across goal.

"But, it’s very difficult for me to fault anybody. The only thing I can really criticise the players for is if they don’t turn up or compete or stand up and be counted but they did that today. I had no fears about that."

“I feel that we’ve carried on from the Rangers game when we lacked a bit of quality and it was the same today. It’s down to decision making in the last third. That’s the frustration as I felt we were the better side."
