Craig Levein has laughed off rumours linking highly-rated defender Aaron Hickey with a move to Rangers.
The left back was reportedly wanted by new Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson and has regularly been linked with moves to the English Premier League.
Manchester City are known to be big admirers of him with Hearts looking to tie him down on a new long term deal.
But the Tynecastle boss was in no mood for the links to Rangers as he suggested the story only existed because the two teams face each other on Sunday.
When asked about Hickey to Rangers he told the Edinburgh Evening News: “Who do we play at the weekend?”
“We’re going to put an offer in for (Alfredo) Morelos tomorrow. I’m taking that one with a lump of salt.”
The 17-year-old is out of contract at Hearts in 2021 but Levein is hoping he can persuade him to sign an extended deal.
Talks have been ongoing without anything being signed and sealed as of yet but Levein added: “I’m still working on it. I want to just try and get it done with his dad and then I’ll talk about it.”
