Craig Levein admits with Uche Ikpeazu he doesn't know what Hearts are going to get

Uche Ikpeazu was Hearts' hero on Sunday afternoon as he pounced late on to secure his team a priceless point against bitter rivals Hibs.

The striker was at the centre of the action throughout the game, bringing down Paul Hanlon in the box to earn Hibs a penalty - which was missed by Mark McNulty - before slotting home 10 minutes from time for a dramatic equaliser in front of the travelling fans.

Prior to today, the towering forward had netted just two league goals for the Maroons, yet the 24-year-old is always a handful for opposition defenders with his immense physicality up front.

But Craig Levein, who was delighted his side showed the battling qualities to win a point, admitted he never quite knows what to expect from his summer signing.

Hearts fans sour Billy McNeill tribute as they let their club down against Hibs

When asked about the performance of his striker in today's game by BT sport, the Hearts boss said: "You just don't know what you're getting, eh?

"He'll probably admit himself he didn't have his best game today, but he kept plugging away, kept trying and I was delighted for him he gets another goal."

Yet the Tynecastle gaffer had praise for another of his strikers, Stevie MacLean, who helped to change the game after being introduced as a second-half substitute. MacLean was instrumental in Hearts' equaliser.

Levein added: "We lost our way for a little while, 10 mintes before Hibs scored and we lost our discipline and our shape a little bit - people just running about willy-nilly. It hurt us for a little while but we did manage to get it back together again.

"I thought Steven MacLean made a difference when he came on and he calmed us down a little bit. And Ryan Edwards who hasn't played an awful lot this season - he made a difference when he came on as well."

Hearts remain in sixth place in the Scottish Premiership, yet may have halted Hibs' European ambitions - Paul Heckingbottom's men are four points adrift of fourth placed Kilmarnock, with just three games left to play.
