Craig Gordon on Huddersfield's radar as Celtic ponder transfer final decision

Huddersfield Town are considering a summer move for Celtic keeper Craig Gordon.

The English Championship outfit were keen to do a deal in January but the Hoops wouldn’t let him leave because of their domestic and Europa League commitments.

The 37-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, is also attracting interest from his former club, Hearts, who were also rebuffed for a loan move in the last window.

The Terriers currently have two keepers on-loan, Kamil Grabara from Liverpool and Everton’s Jonas Lossl, and they are both scheduled to go back to their parent clubs at the end of the campaign.

Gordon, who will be in the Celtic squad for their Europa League return with Copenhagen on Thursday, is on the radar of Huddersfield boss Danny Cowley and remains an option for the end of the season to compete with Joel Coleman.

The top keeper has previously had a spell in England with Sunderland, who signed him for £9 million from Hearts back in 2007.

Celtic have also still to indicate whether or not they are going to extend Gordon’s contract either.

Gordon is just keen to get back playing after falling behind Fraser Forster although he is on loan from Southampton.

Forster is also likely to return there in the summer unless Celtic can strike a permanent deal but he had made it clear he would be open to that happening, although it would require Southampton to give him a big pay-off.

That could leave Celtic with Scott Bain as their only experienced goalkeeper although they also have Ross Doohan and Conor Hazard, who are on loan, respectively, at Ayr United and Dundee.

Hearts are also keen and a return to Tynecastle would be another option that Gordon would be keen on.

That move, however, is likely to remain up in the air as long as the bottom side have the threat of relegation hanging over them.

Gordon is just keen to get his career back up and running and hasn’t given up hope of regaining his place in the Scotland set-up.

He is also keen to play as long as possible after missing so much football for the best part of two years because of injury before he signed for Celtic back in 2014.
