Craig Gordon 'in transfer talks' with Hearts as Celtic keeper nears Parkhead exit

Celtic keeper Craig Gordon is in talks with Hearts over a return to Tynecastle - according to a report.

The 37-year-old is eyeing a Parkhead exit before the transfer window closes and could be set for an emotional Gorgie switch.

Hearts boss Daniel Stendel is keen to bolster his squad on the back of his side's rousing 2-1 win over Rangers at Tynecastle on Sunday.

Manchester United loanee Joel Pereira is currently in possession of the No.1 jersey but the Scotland international will provide serious competition if he arrives.

The BBC claim Gordon is keen on a return to Edinburgh as he finds himself on the outside looking in at Parkhead with just six months remaining on his current deal.

He left Hearts for Sunderland in a £9m deal back in 2007, which was a British record for a goalkeeper at the time.

Fraser Forster is established as Neil Lennon's first choice and Scott Bain is back in contention.

Gordon turned his career around with Celtic since joining in 2014 as he contemplated retirement after an injury-ravaged run following his Sunderland exit.

The shotstopper was key member of Brendan Rodgers' side which secured the double Treble during the Irishman's stay in Glasgow.

Hearts have already signed Liam Boyce, Donis Avdijaj and Toby Sibbick this month.
