Craig Gordon in Scott Arfield red card claim as he insists Rangers star was in 'serious danger'

Craig Gordon insists Scott Arfield could've followed Andrew Considine down the Pittodrie tunnel on Saturday.

The Hearts and former Celtic keeper believes the Rangers midfielder risked being sent off alongside his Aberdeen compatriot during the Ibrox side's 1-0 win.

Arfield was left floored by a crunching Considine challenge for which the defender was shown a straight red by ref Bobby Madden.

But Gordon reckons both players piled in two-footed for the "meaty" incident.

He told BBC Sportscene: "You look at Arfield jumping in with two feet as well there.

"It was quite a meaty challenge from both players there.

"You look at that and I don't think you can complain about the red card.

"Both players are in serious danger of going for red cards the way they've both went in for that.

"I don't think you have any complaints when you see that back."

Dons boss Derek McInnes admits Considine gave Madden a decision to make with the tackle.

And he had minimal complaint with the whistler's decision.

He said afterwards: “You normally receive a lot of red cards in the first couple of games of the season.

“Andy has raised his studs so you’re always running the risk. I don’t think he has hurt the boy.

“Is it a red card 10 or 15 games into the season? Who knows? But I don’t think we can complain too much given the fact he’s raised his studs."
