Craig Gordon has offers on the table as Hearts face competition for Celtic goalkeeper

Hearts face competition if they want to resurrect a deal for Craig Gordon after Celtic offered him a new deal and St Mirren made him an offer.

The Scotland ‘keeper is out of contract and is thought to be weighting up his options away from Celtic Park after finding game time hard to come by following the loan signing of Fraser Forster.

With Neil Lennon keen to make the Southampton goalie’s return a permanent one, Gordon’s desire to play will likely see him sign on somewhere else.

A return to Tynecastle is thought to appeal to the 37-year-old, and a reported move in January by Hearts was rejected by the Hoops.

That interest could be resurrected with the Jambos seeking an upgrade between the sticks after Joel Pereira’s unsuccessful loan spell from Manchester United ended.

Zdenek Zlamal and Colin Doyle are still on the books, but Gordon would represent a significant improvement on either.

But there’s an offer of a new deal on the table from Celtic, with Scott Bain the only senior goalkeeper under contract at the moment.

St Mirren have also launched an ambitious bid to sign the one-time £9million man as Jim Goodwin tries to replace the impressive Vaclav Hladky, who turned down a new contract in Paisley.
