Craig David rolls back the decades to delight fans as he 'smashes New Year'

When Craig David started his set on BBC with half an hour of 2019 left, there were many viewers questioning whether they were in the right decade.

Fast forward to half an hour into 2020 and Craig David was being hailed as the voice of the nation and viewers were clamouring for him to be knighted in the next round of honours.

It has been 20 years since Craig detailed how his seven days of the week panned out but it seems that he still has the ability to hold an audience in the palm of his hand.

A run through his back catalogue with his band before Big Ben's bongs were followed by a DJ set in which Craig freestyled his way over some of the biggest dance tunes of the past few years as well as regaling us with more of his tunes from the past.

While people were asking what 'TS5' meant, which was emblazoned across Craig's decks - it is reference to the exclusive pre-parties hosted by Craig at his penthouse home in Miami that he called TS5 - the opinion on Craig's worth on New Year's night changed rapidly.

After the prosecco corks had popped across the country, viewers fell in love with Craig again and took to Twitter to share their joy.

One viewer celebrated by tweeting: "Craig David is smashing it to be fair. Some right bangers coming out."

Another wrote: "Must admit that @CraigDavid is awesome tonight. What a one man show! #CRAIGDAVID #NewYear2020 @BBCOne"

A third added: "Hats off to @CraigDavid What a performer - and amazing tunes! Great way to bring in 2020"
