Craig Conway set to play for St Johnstone in pre-season bounce game

Former Scotland international Craig Conway is set to play for St Johnstone in a bounce game this week.

The 35-year-old winger will go under the microscope as new manager Callum Davidson looks to bolster his options ahead of August’s season start.

Conway, most recently of English League Two side Salford City, has also previously played down south with Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers and Brighton.

Saints are targeting a wide man following the departures of Matty Kennedy, Danny Swanson and Drey Wright across the past six months.

High praise from Tommy Wright has given David Wotherspoon a pre-season lift

The Perth club is preparing for an August 1 Premiership kick-off and will take on Hibernian in a friendly on Wednesday.

Conway will get the chance to impress and, if he ticks all the boxes and earns a deal, his first competitive game could be the league opener against Dundee United.

He has fond memories of playing with the Tannadice side, including winning the Scottish Cup in 2010.
