Crafty woman salvages dirty iron with 29p packet of paracetamol tablets in genius hack

A crafty woman has revealed how a 29p packet of paracetamol saved her dirty iron from being chipped in the bin.

Laura Siârn Outhart admitted she had a habit of ‘ironing things that she shouldn’t’ on a Facebook bargain-hunters group.

She went on to describe the genius hack, posting before and after photos of her iron after giving it a makeover with two paracetamol tablets.

Laura was ‘amazed’ by how well the last-ditch hack worked on her six-month-old iron, reports Manchester Evening News .

“A 29p pack of paracetamols saved me from buying a new iron”, she explained.

“I am a nightmare for ironing things I shouldn't and recently ruined my iron. I read somewhere that a paracetamol rubbed onto the iron will make it almost like new again.

"This took two paracetamols and it worked better when the iron was hot and not just warm. I was amazed how well it worked and how much money it saved me.”

She then added: "To anyone asking I didn't wet the tablet beforehand and if you use tweezers and are very careful then you won't get burnt. I am not saying do this but it worked for me and saved me buying a new iron.

"I tried other alternatives but this one worked in seconds and the other ways either didn't work or it took too long and I would give up."

Laura revealed how she had been left gobsmacked by the effectiveness of the hack.

She said: "I read something about it ages ago but didn't think anything of it. I tried other ways and they never worked or it took forever and would end up giving up.

"So I went and got the paracetamols as the last option and tried it on a warm iron but didn't quite work so turned the iron up and it took seconds to clean.

"Wish I tried it sooner. I was all for buying a new iron even though mine was only 6 months old. I thought it wasn't salvagable."

She added: "My husband is forever seeing me try loads of different random things out and laughing at me. Some work, some don't. This time though I was super smug. He was even impressed.”

People have already tried the hack, and have been pleased with its success.

Writing under the post, one impressed Facebook user said: "Just tried this and it works!! Thanks for sharing."

"I can't believe it iv been trying all sorts to clean my iron and just done it in 2 mins this way thank you so much," said somebody else.

"Omg it actually works, how I don’t know but it does. Took a whole pack as mine was really bad but for 25p!!" exclaimed a third.

A fourth added: " It worked for me too! I was this close to buying a new iron!"
