Docks Beers has launched its strongest beer yet.
Clocking Off, an eight per cent double chocolate stout, was brewed as the nation entered a second lockdown, an irony not lost on the Grimsby brewing team as pubs and its own tap room closed.
They say it is a tipple for all now working from home.
Mike Richards, head brewer at Docks Beers, said: “We wanted this new beer to be indulgent, intense, with chocolate flavours and have a rich, smooth mouth feel.
"The resulting brew is a chocolate treat. Imagine if a fruitcake was dipped in chocolate, soaked in alcohol and blended into a paste. We hope Clocking Off is enjoyed - we think it’s the perfect way to round off a tough day.”
A third stout as it enters its third year, it follows Elbow Grease and ‘founding brew’ Graveyard Shift. It continues the theme of hard graft in name and design.
Jack Johnson, marketing manager at the King Edward Street operation, said: “We’ve been planning on adding a big stout to our range for a while, one which is stronger than our other stouts, Elbow Grease or Graveyard Shift.
“Docks Beers usually celebrates hard graft, and this was brewed for the dark beer drinker who fancies a tipple after they clock off.”
With taproom closed, the team is new reliant on click and collect and delivery, with the new brew available in 440ml cans or mini casks.
Existing lines have also been stocked by various retailers.
