Crack cocaine dealer who spent profits on lavish clothes and cars ordered to repay more than £3,000

A drug dealer who spent the proceeds of his crimes on lavish clothes and performance cars has been ordered to pay back thousands of pounds.

Tyler Jones of Caerleon Road in Newport was jailed for four years at Cardiff Crown Court in May for seven offences, including being concerned in the supply of cocaine, possession of crack cocaine, and possession of criminal property.

The 27-year-old, who was arrested after a BMW he was travelling in was stopped by Gwent Police, carried out the offences between February and November 2020.

Officers recovered 28 wraps of crack cocaine with a value of more than £800.

Police said Jones had lived a 'lavish lifestyle', buying designer clothes and driving performance cars.

On Tuesday, the defendant returned to Cardiff Crown Court, via video link, for a proceeds of crime hearing.

Steven Donoghue, prosecuting, told the court Jones had benefitted to the order of £4,645, but the sum available amounted to £3,805.

This included personal items including an iPhone and high value clothing that had been valued by an auctioneer.

Jones was told he had three months in which to repay £3,805, and if he failed to do so would serve a further two months in prison.
