A Chicago police officer was hospitalized after he was dragged by a vehicle Friday evening during a traffics stop in Englewood.
About 7:30 p.m., an officer was conducting a traffic stop when the driver of an Impala reversed his car and dragged the officer, pinning him between the vehicle and a viaduct, Chicago police said.
The officer fired shots during the incident but no one was struck, police said.
The officer was dragged by a vehicle for about 40 feet, Chicago fire officials said.
The officer was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious to critical condition, fire officials said but was stabilized.
