
An mobile station unit is displayed at the National Institute of Polar Research in Tachikawa, Tokyo on Tuesday. The unit was developed by the institute and other entities such as the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and Misawa Homes Co. so researchers can live comfortably in the harsh environment of Antarctica. Six meters long, six meters wide and three meters high, the unit will be set up at the Showa Station in Antarctica for experiments next year. There are hopes of using the data obtained in the design of a lunar base.
