I was intrigued to read Cowgirl because of the title being CowGIRL and not Cowboy! And I am really glad that I did and took a chance on it. I thought it was unusual for it to be set in Wales given the title and I wanted to know more! I found the beginning to be very exciting, imagining the adrenaline rush of riding down a steep hill. Also I felt that Gemma, the main character, was talking to me as she's a chatty character and 'sarky' at times!
The difficult and different situation made the book even more unique – hiding a load of cows from Cowgirl's farm on an estate in an attempt to save them does seem a bit mad!! Gemma is a 'toughie' and even though she is going through a really hard time she can still have a laugh. Seeing Gemma's attitude to her problems made me feel my problems weren't worth a glance. Overall I think Cowgirl is a brilliant book and everybody, boys and girls, young and old, would enjoy going on a trip into Gemma's life.
