Cowboys-Texans preseason game canceled, team returning to Houston

The Dallas Cowboys confirmed that Thursday's preseason finale with the Houston Texans has been canceled.

The Texans had an opportunity to go home and tend to their families, so that's what they did.

The game had been moved from Houston's NRG Stadium to AT&T Stadium in Arlington because of Hurricane Harvey.

"There's more important things than football right now," Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee said. "I think Houston being able to get home and see their families is a big deal. To me, we've played in a bunch of preseason games. Right now, I'm excited that they can get home."

Cowboys tight end Jason Witten said he supported decision to cancel the game.

Fans who purchased $25 tickets will have the option of getting a refund or having that money donated to relief efforts.

The next game for both teams will be their regular-season openers. The Cowboys host the New York Giants on Sept. 10. The Texans host the Jacksonville Jaguars on the same day.
