Cowboys’ offense not overly impressive in Sunday’s win over Washington

Dallas was not overly impressive to either of the Pro Football Talk hosts after Sunday’s 27-20 win over Washington.

Mike Florio expressed, yes, Dallas was opportunistic jumping out to a 24-0 lead but felt they kind of simply held on and Washington actually mounted a comeback. Washington did, “make it very interesting; got it down to 27-20. Who knows what ultimately could have happened? It felt like Washington literally ran out of time. If that game is a little bit longer, Washington forces a tie and maybe they end up in overtime.”

Former Philadelphia Eagle and nine-year defensive lineman Mike Golic understandably lauded the Dallas defense and Micah Parsons in particular, “What more can you say about him (Parsons) and what he is doing?… They are playing incredibly well in how they are using him. He has beaten All-Pro offensive lineman to get sacks. It is incredible what he is doing.”

Florio conveyed he thinks Parsons has some old-school football in him. Having spoken with Parsons after the game, Florio shared that Parsons likes lining up all over the place.

Florio compared Parsons to former Pittsburgh S/LB Troy Polamalu, as teams had to constantly be checking to be aware of his lining up in various locations before the snap.

Perhaps such an impression was made on the WFT coaches that like me, they thought during the game, “We need to draft someone quick and athletic like Parsons than can attack an offense.”

Washington thought it had that guy in Chase Young but must wait until 2022 for Young to return from injury.
