Cowboys lose another defender as David Irvin is suspended for violating NFL’s substance abuse policy

The Dallas Cowboys defense is being battered, and it has nothing to do with injury or salary cap space. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Dallas will lose another defensive player to suspension, this time David Irvin.

If Irving is suspended, it will become his third suspension in as many seasons for violation of the NFL’s substance abuse policy. Irving suffered a high-ankle sprain during a Week 7 practice and missed the remainder of the season. In two games last season, Irvin compiled four tackles and one sack.

Irvin now joins defensive end Randy Gregory, who was suspended indefinitely on Wednesday for the same violation.
