Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett give update on Ezekiel Elliott holdout

The Dallas Cowboys are in the midst of evaluating, developing, and configuring their roster in the hopes of getting America’s Team ready to make a postseason run in 2019-2020. There’s one little problem with business as usual in Cowboys training camp though — star running back Ezekiel Elliott’s absence looms larger than anything else going on in Oxnard, CA.

Head coach Jason Garrett provided a bit of an update to the media today, but it likely wasn’t one that he was hoping for. That’s because there’s really no news on the holdout of Elliott — at least nothing that doesn’t involve conditioning not far away in Cabo.

Still, Garrett was quick to praise Elliott while still being the good company man when asked to provide a status.

“No real reaction to that. We’re focused on the guys we have here and what we need to do to be better every day. What I know about Zeke is Zeke loves football and Zeke works very hard at playing football. He’s competitive, he’s compassionate, he’s had a big impact on our team over the course of our last three years. We trust him as a player, we trust him as a person, and we’d love to get him back here as soon as he can, and we trust that he’s going to be ready to go.”

So there you have it. The update on the former Ohio State running back and current Cowboy Pro-Bowler is that there is no update. We’ll continue to provide you with updates when they happen, and even when they don’t.

The Zeke watch is still in full-effect.
