Cowboys, Ezekiel Elliott still at stand still while running back works out in Cabo

There’s still no deal to announce when it comes to Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott and “America’s brass.” The latest rumors have Jerry Jones and the Cowboys offering the pro-bowler and former Ohio State star a “solid” contract, but thus far there has been no reported counter though reports say the two are still working on things.

In the meantime, Elliott is reportedly closer to training camp than ever before because he’s on a peninsula called Baja California, which means “below California” in Spanish. Since training camp is “en California” that seems to be just below where he needs to be — so to speak.

Apparently Elliott has traveled to the Cabo area to workout and get in shape so that when any deal is struck that’s somewhere in the neighborhood of all the money in the world, he’ll be just a quick plane ride away and travel encima (above) Baja California to Oxnard, California.

Meanwhile, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones sent a rather sharply worded message to Elliott through the media, saying “You don’t have to have a rushing champion to win a Super Bowl.”

I’d say the way America’s Team is constructed might pose an issue with that statement, but it’s clear both sides are trying to leverage what they have.

We’ll continue to stay on top of this as things progress. Currently, Elliott has until August 6 to report to accrue a season for free agent eligibility.
